Reaching Out to the Stars

I look out
To the world
And the light of the fading sun

I reach out
To the stars
To catch them before they fall

Surrounded by night, they flicker
Their light engulfed
By the bright, full moon

Like sad eyes, they flicker
A star trapped
In a boundless, lonely sky

Fall down
Into my arms
Arms deep in darkness

Fall down
Into my heart
A heart warm and protective

So many fall
Through my fingers
They cannot find me
Yet my hope still lingers
A light to set them free
